Embark on a serene journey to the secluded Santa Maria Beach, a hidden gem on St. Thomas’s west end. This 1-mile out-and-back trail is moderately challenging, making it suitable for hikers of varying skill levels.

Highlights:

• Trail Experience: The path winds through open grassy areas and lush tropical forests, offering glimpses of local wildlife and native flora. Along the way, you’ll encounter the historic ruins of Estate Santa Maria, adding a touch of history to your adventure.
• Secluded Beach: Upon reaching Santa Maria Beach, you’ll be greeted by pristine white sands and crystal-clear waters. This tranquil spot is perfect for relaxation and offers excellent snorkeling opportunities, with vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life just offshore.

Practical Information:

• Trailhead Location: The trailhead is located off Fortuna Road, marked by an overgrown fence. Parking is available near the entrance. Keep an eye out for the red and white fence to find the starting point.
• Schedule: Guided hikes are available every Monday and Saturday at 10:00 AM.
• What to Bring: It’s recommended to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. If you plan to snorkel, remember to bring your own equipment, as there are no rental facilities on-site.

Note: While the trail is generally well-marked, some sections can be overgrown. The beach is secluded with no facilities, so plan accordingly.
